Dimash Qudaibergen received a scientific copy of the most ancient kobyz – symbol of the musical heritage of the Turkic world

Academician Darkhan Kydyrali presented a scientific copy of the most ancient kobyz to Dimash Qudaibergen. The unique find was discovered during an archaeological expedition in 2014. It is assumed that the kobyz belonged to musicians of VI-VII centuries.

The expedition was led by Darkhan Kydyrali, who at that time was the president of the International Turkic Academy. Archaeological excavations in 2014 led to an amazing discovery – the oldest kobyz was found on Mount Altai in the area of modern Bereli, on the Karakaba plateau. This area between the 2nd and 7th centuries has become a key to understanding the ancestral heritage.

One of the scientific copies of the kobyz was presented to Dimash Qudaibergen, while the second copy will be kept in the museum to preserve it for future generations.

“The kobyz that was found during the expedition is the oldest of all discovered to date. It is the national instrument not only of Kazakhs, but also of all nomadic peoples. Taking all this into account, we considered this kobyz as a heritage of our ancestors and decided to present it to Dimash, so that the ancient instrument would protect his creative path”, – shared Darkhan Kydyrali.
