Dimash’s fans from Latin America came to support Kazakh athletes at the Davis Cup

Dears from Uruguay, Chile and several regions of Argentina travelled to Rosario for Kazakhstan’s Davis Cup match against Argentina. More than 40 fans of Dimash attracted the attention of the entire stadium with their huge support for the Kazakh tennis players.

The Dears meeting was organised by Irina Wagner, Director of the Kazakhstan Culture Centre in Latin America.

Irina was born in Almaty in 1975 and has been living in Argentina for 20 years. Motivated by the desire to promote the culture of Kazakhstan in her new place of residence, Irina organised a stand dedicated to her homeland at a public fair in Rosario.

“When we presented ourselves at the fair, people came up to us and asked about the flag, the exact location of Kazakhstan on the map and so on. When we told them that our country was as big as Argentina, they couldn’t believe it. And that’s what inspired me to create a centre dedicated to showcasing my country,” Wagner recalls.

When Irina learnt that Kazakhstan’s tennis team would be visiting Argentina for the Davis Cup, she was thrilled.

However, she was not the only one who supported the Kazakh team in this match. She was joined by more than 40 Dimash fans who came from different parts of Argentina (Mar del Plata, Cordoba, Entre Rios, Tucuman), as well as from Chile and Uruguay. Their support attracted the attention of every person in the stadium: the Dears hosted an online radio programme La Era Dimash and handed out leaflets with quotes from the singer calling for world peace.

“After a long struggle Argentina won, but the Kazakhstan players were great, their performance was impressive! I must admit to you, we were happy to be able to support the Kazakhstani players,” shared Paola Profeta, Radio Station Manager of La Era Dimash.
