On July 11, the international gala concert brought the “Altay – Golden Cradle of the Turkic World” festival to a spectacular close at the foot of Kazakhstan’s Altay Mountains.
On the festival’s Main Stage in the village of Katon-Karagay, the rich history of the Turkic peoples came together with contemporary culture for an unforgettable evening.
A true master of musical collaboration, People’s Artist Dimash Qudaibergen wove together a program that blended different styles, genres, and languages.
Today, the neoclassical pieces “Olimpico” and “Ave Maria” stood alongside the electrifying energy of “Golden,” “Smoke,” and “Weekend,” while the many shades of boundless emotion shone through “Love of Tired Swans,” “Unforgettable Day,” “Mahabbat Ber Magan,” and Dimash’s original composition “Samal,” performed by Nurzhas Sadyrbayev.
Dimash and his team of instrumentalists, dancers, and vocalists showcased the full breadth of the Kazakh spirit through melodies infused with national flavor for the festival’s guests, who included representatives from around 30 countries. Dimash’s fans traveled specifically for the event from Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Poland, and many other parts of the world.
The audience also witnessed the live premiere of the recently released folk song “Aqerke,” presented in a contemporary interpretation.
Songs that gained new life through the vision of composer and producer Dimash, including last summer’s chart-topping hit “Tau Ishinde” and the fan-favorite “Durdaraz, together with the haunting sound of the qobyz in “Stranger” and the rock-inspired rendition of the traditional kui “Adai,” provided powerful highlights in the grand festival finale.
