Winners of the State “Daryn” Award, and laureates of international competitions such as “Bridge TV Need for Fest” in Turkiye, “Music World” in Israel, “Golden Time Talent” in the UK, “Music Box International Contest” in Spain, “World Championship” in the USA, and “Open Italy 2023,” Yernat Nauryz and Temirlan Olzhabay gathered a full house at the Palace of the Republic for a unique instrumental creative evening.

The two dombras in the hands of these masters showcased the limitless possibilities of the instrument. The musicians performed a wide variety of pieces, ranging from ancient kyuis to classical works: “Zhumyr Kilysh,” “Kausar Sezim,” and “Amanat” seamlessly blended with “Vivaldi” and a tribute to “Jackson.” The kyui battle in their hands flowed smoothly from one piece to another, demonstrating a unique form of communication through music.

Temirlan and Yernat were joined by well-known musicians from across the country, who performed their own pieces solo and created beautiful collaborations with the dombra players. Together with kobyz player Olzhas Kurmanbek, they performed their joint piece “Zaman.” Cellist Bagzhan Oktyabr and composer Renat Gaisin joined Temirlan and Yernat to form a quartet, where different instruments were intricately intertwined in the piece “Konil Tolkyny.”

Dimash Qudaibergen attended the concert as a guest, greeting his friends from the stage. He studied with them at KazNUI “Shabyt” and has performed alongside them at many concerts. In recent years, Temirlan and Yernat have been regular participants in Dimash’s “Stranger” concert tour, which travels from Kazakhstan to the UAE, Armenia, Turkiye, Hungary, and China.

“It is a great honor and joy for me to share the stage with these guys, whether it’s in our country or anywhere in the world. And here’s why. You know these guys only as wonderful and talented musicians. But I have known them since our youth; we are friends, and I even lived with Yernat in the same dormitory. We are all graduates of the Shabyt National Academy of Arts! I am proud of you, guys! Thank you so much for promoting the culture of our country around the world! It can be confidently said that these guys are an example of a new, conscious generation. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to the parents of Temirlan and Yernat for raising such worthy, talented young men! Kazakhs have a great saying: ‘The strong one defeats one, but the wise one defeats thousands.’ Thanks to the support of our compatriots, you gathered a large concert hall and captivated the audience with your talent,” said Dimash.
