On December 23, Svetlana Aitbaeva, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the «MOTHERʼS HOME» in Astana. For many years, the «MOTHERʼS HOME» Public Foundation has been supporting women with newborns, helping them keep their families together and regain stability during difficult periods of life.

As part of her visit, Svetlana Aitbaeva took part in the traditional Kazakh ceremony Qyrqynan shygaru. The ceremonial rites were held for a baby girl under the care of the Mother’s Home public foundation, marking 40 days since her birth. The day became a warm and meaningful occasion for the child’s mother and everyone present.

On the same day, the Kazakhstani brand “Altyn Bala” donated diapers and baby care products to the “House of Mothers,” helping to provide essential supplies for daily infant care.

Representatives of the «MOTHERʼS HOME» Public Foundation emphasize that the organization’s main mission is to reduce the number of children placed in orphanages and to preserve a family environment for every child.

The main patrons of the project are Aydyn and Anar Rakhimbaevs.
Anar Rakhimbaeva has been leading the implementation of Mother’s Home for 12 years, overseeing the development of all the foundation’s initiatives.
To achieve this goal, the foundation develops two key areas: the “House of Mothers” project and the National Adoption Agency.
The “House of Mothers” project provides comprehensive support to women facing difficult life circumstances who are considering giving up their child. Mothers and their children live in cottage-style houses designed for 9–10 residents. Typically, the program works with women under the age of 35 who have one child, although each case is considered individually.

On average, mothers stay at the “House of Mothers” for about six months. During this time, they receive full support, including medical and psychological assistance, while social workers help them—especially very young mothers—adapt to their new lives and prepare for independent living.

The project has been operating since 2013. Over this period, nearly 9,000 mothers with newborn children have received assistance. Today, the foundation’s work helps prevent approximately 70% of potential child abandonment cases.
Today, the pilot resource centers of the «MOTHERʼS HOME» Public Foundation are already operating in five countries: Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, and Turkiye. In addition, the foundation is exploring the possibility of launching the project in Colombia, Peru, Bulgaria, Poland, and Thailand.
At the peak of its development, 26 “Houses of Mothers” were operating across Kazakhstan. Today, their number has decreased, reflecting a decline in the number of abandonment-related requests. Currently, one “House of Mothers” operates in Astana and three in Almaty. Overall, 20 houses function in 18 cities across the country.

In cases where children enter residential care institutions at a middle or older age, the National Adoption Agency becomes involved. Its mission is to find a suitable family for the child as quickly as possible in order to minimize psychological trauma. To date, more than 2,000 children have been placed into families with the agency’s assistance.
“We work so that a child can remain in a family from the very first days of life. Sometimes a mother simply needs support, time, and the feeling that she is not alone,” notes Azharlym Zhanbolat, PR manager of the “House of Mothers” public foundation.
