The event was opened by the university’s president, Miras Daulenov, who welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude to journalists for their challenging and vital work. He also noted that journalism is one of the areas included in the university’s curriculum.
The majority of Coventry University Kazakhstan’s students have a strong command of English and demonstrate high academic motivation. Many are winners of academic competitions and olympiads.
The university offers undergraduate programmes in business and computer science. Students typically begin with a foundation year designed to enhance their English language proficiency, develop academic skills, and provide an introduction to their chosen subject area. After this, they can continue their studies in the schools of business, economics and finance, computing, or humanities.
Students benefit from access to modern infrastructure, including interactive learning spaces, social areas, and a digital library with over a million publications.
President Daulenov shared some of the successes of the university’s students, including their participation in various research projects. One such initiative involves developing artificial intelligence applications in collaboration with ShanghaiTech University.
Students also spoke about their involvement with Enactus, an international non-profit organization that fosters youth entrepreneurship. They presented one of their leading projects—an ice cream brand based on traditional ingredients, which earned third place in the national Enactus competition.
Artificial intelligence is a key focus area for both students and faculty, not only in IT but also in business. The university embraces the idea that in the future, it won’t be AI that replaces people, but rather people who know how to work with AI who will replace those who don’t.
