On August 2nd, Hunan TV in China aired the Gala Concert of one of the most significant and well-known projects, “I Am a Singer.” Dimash Qudaibergen, a participant of the 2017 group and a special guest on the project, performed his new composition “Angel Love.”

The music and lyrics of the song were created by renowned Kazakh artists – composer Renat Gaissin and poet Kalkaman Sarin. Renat Gaissin worked on the arrangement in tandem with sound producer Yerlan Bekchurin.

Especially for the Chinese audience, Dimash performed the song in both Kazakh and Chinese. The author of the Chinese lyrics is Lin Wei Weilim.

Renat Gaissin shared the story behind the song’s creation with DimashNews:

“A few years ago, while looking at the clouds through an airplane window, I was inspired by the extraordinarily beautiful scene and composed the melody, immediately recording it on a voice recorder to remember it.

During the pandemic, when we were working on the composition ‘Qairan Elim,’ I showed this melody to Dimash, but due to constant traveling and touring, we only now got the chance to work on this song.

Not long ago, Dimash called me and said he would like to sing this song at the ‘I Am a Singer’ Gala Concert. He asked me to create the lyrics in Kazakh. I immediately called my close friend, one of the country’s best poets, Kalkaman Sarin.

We connected over the phone, and inspired by the melody, Kalkaman wrote beautiful, emotional lyrics.

It was perhaps a true moment of synergy, where the poet understood my state of mind instantly.

I would call this piece a Romantic Poem.

Dimash himself named the song. ‘Angel Love’ is a song about true, pure, and tender love.”
