A vibrant celebration of Nauryz took place in New York’s iconic Times Square, bringing together members of the Kazakh diaspora, diplomats, students, and local residents. Fans of Dimash Qudaibergen from New York played a special role in the event, becoming an active part of the festivities.
The celebration was organized by the Consulate of Kazakhstan in New York with the support of Kazakh blogger Zhasulan Ulan. From the very first moments, the atmosphere of spring renewal and unity was palpable: guests enjoyed traditional costumes, national music, and cultural rituals, including the tusaukeser ceremony.

Performances by the children’s ensemble Alqissa and the group Zhetigen became one of the highlights of the program. The sound of the dombra echoed across Times Square, capturing the attention of passersby and setting the tone for the entire event. Musicians performed Kurmangazy’s kuis “Balbyraun” and “Adai” together with American dombra player Jeff Gersh.

Dimash Qudaibergen’s fans attended the celebration dressed in traditional Kazakh attire and treated guests to homemade cookies decorated with the Kazakh flag, adding a warm and authentic Nauryz spirit to the occasion.

After a long winter, the gentle spring sunshine brought an extra sense of comfort and lightness to the celebration. Participants noted that gatherings like this help them feel a connection to their roots and culture, even far from home.
