In the heart of Manhattan, a ceremonial flag-raising event was held in honor of Kazakhstan’s Republic Day, bringing together representatives from various communities, including fans of the Kazakh singer Dimash Qudaibergen.
Among the guests were representatives of the NYC Mayor’s Office, international diplomats, members of the Kazakh diaspora, and the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations. A special guest at the event was the Consul General of Kazakhstan in New York, Rauan Tleulin, who emphasized the importance of cultural and friendly ties between Kazakhstan and the United States and expressed his interest in organizing a Dimash concert in New York.
Guests were warmly welcomed by representatives dressed in traditional Kazakh attire, who offered treats – cookies decorated with the Kazakh flag design, lovingly prepared by Dimash fan Noriko Brunel from New York. During the event, NYC Mayor Eric Adams delivered a congratulatory speech, highlighting the strengthening relationship between Kazakhstan and the USA.
The event was also attended by Dears from the USA. Tanya Yang, one of Dimash’s fans, shared in an interview with Kazakh television that since discovering the Kazakh artist’s music in 2018, she has visited Kazakhstan three times, each time experiencing the country’s rich culture, traditions, and hospitality. “Each visit leaves a special place for Kazakhstan in my heart,” she noted.
Another Dimash fan, Lori Grabowski, spoke about her recent visit to Astana, where she attended her first concert of the singer as part of his global STRANGER tour. She is now eagerly looking forward to his upcoming performances in Prague and Düsseldorf next month. Alongside other New York-based fans, Lori was an honored guest at the ceremony, underscoring the special role Dears play in fostering cultural exchange between the two countries.
