Astana, a city of the future and one of the youngest capitals in the world, hosted the release of Episode 10 of Dimash Qudaibergen’s show Voice Beyond Horizon on April 9, 2026.
Framed by striking futuristic architecture and embodying a unique fusion of East and West, Kazakhstan’s capital shone brightly at the site of its iconic symbol – the Baiterek monument, the Tree of Life. Eight performers took to the stage set along the city’s central axis, creating a powerful sense of connection with the entire city as they competed in the final episodes of the musical reality show.
Renowned Chinese singer Cai Guoqing visited Kazakhstan for the first time to join the judging panel alongside Dimash.
The first to perform was Chinese vocalist Cai Chengyu, who returned to the grand tradition of opera with the aria “Nessun dorma.” Dimash praised not only the strength of his voice but also the emotional depth of his performance, advising him to stay closer to the original arrangement.
Chinese singer La Danzhu performed in Kazakh for the first time, presenting a fusion piece “Zou Ma Yaowang,” which blends melodies familiar in both China and Kazakhstan – “In That Distant Land” and “Kara Zhorga” (“The Black Stallion”). Dimash commended her efforts in mastering the Kazakh pronunciation.
Italian singer Giulia introduced her original song “À tes lèvres” (“On Your Lips”). Dimash particularly noted her vibrato, which perfectly complemented the piece.
Kazakh performer Nurzhas Sadyrbayev chose the song “Anazhan” (“Mother”) as a tribute to his mother, whose support guided him toward a career in music. “I was deeply impressed by his performance today. He held all his pain and emotion within and delivered the song flawlessly. It reflects his longing for his mother,” Dimash shared.
Nur Cholpon from Kyrgyzstan performed “Fergana,” a song celebrating the unity of cultures and calling for togetherness – a message that fully aligns with the spirit of the project. “What is it like to sing in Kyrgyz in Kazakhstan?” Dimash asked. She replied that, as the saying goes, Kazakhs and Kyrgyz are brothers, so she feels at home when she sings.
Princ from Serbia premiered “Euforija” (“Euphoria”), delivering a high-energy performance with both his vocals and electric guitar. Dimash praised not only his artistry but also his composure when a guitar strap unexpectedly broke mid-performance.
Chinese singer Zhang Xinyu told a timeless love story through “Wujiapo 2023,” skillfully blending traditional Peking opera with modern pop music. After her performance, Dimash remarked: “I wasn’t familiar with traditional Chinese songs before, but thanks to her captivating voice, artistic expression, and our repeated collaborations, I’m beginning to understand them more deeply.”
Following her travels across Kazakhstan, the Malaysian singer gained a new perspective on the song “I Wanna Be Free.” On stage, she aimed to express that newfound sense of freedom. Dimash noted her willingness to push boundaries, adding that she continues to surprise everyone while growing throughout the project.
According to the results of the latest round, Cai Chengyu took third place, Lee Peiling secured second place by a narrow margin, and Nurzhas Sadybayev became the winner of the stage.
In the next episode, the contestants will embark on another journey to collect folk traditions, seeking inspiration for their final performances – which will determine the project’s ultimate “Star of Glory.”
