A six-meter-long “Alma del Río” monument in the shape of an apple will be installed at the Republic of Kazakhstan Square in Rosario, Argentina. The unique architecture will show the special connection between Almaty and Rosario, which are sister cities since 2019.
The project of the monument was presented by Irina Vagner, Director of the Center for Culture of Kazakhstan in Latin America. The presentation took place at a press conference dedicated to the match of Kazakhstan against Argentina at the Davis Cup.
According to Irina, the monument, covered with small ceramic elements resembling mosaic, symbolizes unity, friendship and world peace. It is noteworthy that each part of the monument will be created thanks to the donations of Dimash fans, which once again emphasizes their unity.
The monument was designed by renowned Argentine sculptors Gustavo Augsburger and Daniel Kosik.
The name of the monument “Alma del Río” translates as “Soul of the River” and at the same time is an interesting play on words that includes the names of two cities: “Alma” – Almaty and “Rio” – Rosario.
The monument is scheduled to be opened on December 16, 2024 in honor of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In addition, the press conference also saw the presentation of the first Kazakh language study book for Spanish speakers, which will soon be available in several countries.
