On July 31, 2026, People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Dimash Qudaibergen unveiled a contemporary interpretation of the Kazakh folk song Aqerke on his official YouTube channel.

For many years, the song has been performed by traditional singers accompanied by the dombra. One of its most renowned interpreters was the distinguished 20th-century Kazakh singer and composer Garifulla Kurmangaliev.

Serving as the project’s music producer, Dimash collaborated with musician Renat Aubakirov and sound producer Yerlan Bekchurin to create and present his own interpretation of the composition. While preserving its authentic character, the team enriched the song with modern musical elements and production techniques.

The new version features not only Dimash’s vocals but also fragments of historical recordings by Garifulla Kurmangaliev, creating a unique musical dialogue between the past and the present.

The music video for Aqerke was filmed both in Almaty and in Aktobe, the singer’s hometown. Production took place on land, on water, and in the air, bringing together a wide variety of natural landscapes.

More than 130 people took part in the production. In addition, nearly 10,000 residents of Aktobe gathered at Koblandy Batyr Central Stadium to participate in the creation of this remarkable visual tribute to the song.
