On May 28, 2020, for the first time in the US, songs by Dimash Kudaibergen, a 26-year-old singer from Kazakhstan who conquered China, Russia and Europe by storm, were aired on a radio program KMRD-LP.FM.
As numerous Dears (Dimash fans) attempted listening to the program online from all over the USA, one of the networks crashed while others remained online. KMRD is a community radio station in Madrid, New Mexico, and the program hosted by DJ Thrifty aired at 9pm Mountain Time. Stunned by Dimash’s art and skills, DJ Thrifty remarked, “Apparently, this guy doesn’t get enough play-time in America, but he should.” And so he has since then.
On May 24th, Dimash’s birthday, the founder of Dimash USA Fan Club, Alisa Kellogg, met Shawn Green (DJ Thrifty) by chance when he came into the gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she was working. Conversation led to discovering that it was also his birthday that day. Alisa mentioned that she knew a singer that shared his birthday and Mr. Green was curious who that person was. Alisa asked if he would like to hear a song, it was then, his wife said, “Oh he loves music, he is a DJ!’ Needless to say, this was just the invitation that Alisa needed to tell him about Dimash and play one of his songs for him. When DJ Thrifty heard his voice, he immediately started to look Dimash up. Alisa asked if DJ Thrifty would play him on his radio program and he said yes.
DJ Thrifty was so impressed with Dimash’s singing that he introduced Dimash to another KMRD DJ at the station. DJ Thrifty spoke with Dimash USA Texas State Leader, Dana Toburen, who contacted DJ Gwendolyn Zaxus to discuss Dimash with her.
DJ Gwendolyn Zaxus, became the first Talk Show host to feature Dimash on her 2 hour weekly radio program, “Mad Talk”. On June 17, 2020, she featured six Dimash songs on her program. She dedicated 45 minutes of her program to him!
Inspired by the May 28th success in New Mexico, Dimash USA Fan Club Texas State Leaders, Dana Toburen and Siri Tardiff began to make contact with a Radio station in their state requesting that they play Dimash songs.
On June 18, 2020, it was DJ Kang Yeri’s turn to be overwhelmed by Dimash’s “incredible, amazing” vocal range and expression, as she played Dimash’s cover of “All by Myself” on KKDA 730 AM (DKnet.com) in Dallas-Fort Worth (TX). As her live talk with Dimash USA fans indicated, American DJ’s are very grateful to learn about this singer!
Dimash USA Fan Club’s multiple state teams are working on getting Dimash on the radio in their state. So far the following songs have been played on the radio in the United States,
“SOS d’un terrien en détresse”, “Give Me Your Love”, “Leyla”, “Love of Tired Swans”, “Across Endless Dimensions”, “Love is Like a Dream”, “Sagyndym Seni”, and “Be Happy”.
