We continue sharing updates from Dimash Qudaibergen’s humanitarian visit to Bangladesh, where the artist has been learning about humanitarian programs and the daily lives of displaced communities.
On the second day of his mission to Bangladesh, IOM Global Goodwill Ambassador Dimash Qudaibergen visited an LPG distribution center in one of the camps for displaced people, supported through the SAFE Plus programme.
The center provides continuous access to clean cooking energy, helping reduce health risks, minimize environmental impact, and lower the demand for firewood.
Under the distribution system, each family receives liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, which are refilled on a scheduled basis. Although the programme costs more than USD 6 million per month, it remains one of the most effective ways to provide essential energy access in areas lacking infrastructure.
As part of his humanitarian mission, Dimash also visited a primary healthcare facility, where children, adults, and elderly residents can access basic medical services, routine vaccinations, laboratory testing, and X-ray examinations.
When necessary, medical teams provide emergency assistance, treatment for communicable and non-communicable diseases, and transfer patients with serious conditions to urban hospitals by ambulance.
The medical center also supports reproductive health services and provides psychological and psychosocial care.
At present, more than one million displaced people are living in difficult conditions across 33 camps in Cox’s Bazar, facing daily challenges and continued humanitarian needs.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, together with the Government of Bangladesh and international partners, continues working to support camp residents, where hundreds of thousands of people still rely on humanitarian assistance and access to basic services.
