Among the audience at Dimash’s concert in Barcelona was young Kazakh singer Zhanel Ali. A devoted fan of Dimash and a member of his Spanish fan club, she had earlier performed at the pre-party, singing Unforgettable Day and Give Me Love.
During the show at Olympic Arena Badalona, Zhanel appeared in a beautiful national costume, which caught Dimash’s attention. After learning that she was a vocalist, Dimash invited her to join him on stage.
Before she sang, Dimash shared a few warm words with the young performer, supporting her in front of thousands of spectators. He listened with delight as Zhanel performed a fragment of his song “Unforgettable day” and wished her success on her musical journey.
In an interview with DimashNews, Zhanel shared her story:
“My name is Zhanel Ali, I’m 15 years old. I’m from Astana, Kazakhstan. I’ve loved singing since childhood, which is why I entered the Kazakh National Academy of Arts to study pop vocals.
In 2022, my family moved to sunny Spain for work, and now I live in Alicante.
The year we moved, I applied for The Voice Kids Spain and made it to the finals at the age of 12 with Christina Aguilera’s ‘Hurt’.
I’m currently studying opera singing at a Spanish conservatory.
For Dimash’s concert and the pre-party in Barcelona, I had a costume made especially in Kazakhstan, because first and foremost I am Kazakh and proud of it. Our traditional clothing fascinates people in Spain and around the world — they are always eager to discover our culture.
Since childhood, I’ve dreamed of singing on the same stage as Dimash, and today that dream has come true.
Of course, when Dimash invited me to the stage, I was so overwhelmed with happiness that I cried and forgot everything I wanted to say. I wanted to shout to the whole world how proud I am of our people — and that thanks to Dimash, the entire world is learning about our culture.
It’s hard to put into words how I felt performing with him — millions of fans dream of such a moment. I can only express my deepest admiration and gratitude to Dimash aga for his support and encouragement. I still can’t believe I sang on the same stage with him.
Thank you so much to Dimash and his team for coming to Spain!”
