The penultimate episode of Voice Beyond Horizon sent the contestants in search of inspiration along three different routes. The musicians could choose between visiting Nazarbayev University, taking a city tour, or traveling to the Pink Lake. Following their hearts, the participants made their choices and set off on their journeys.
Chinese vocalist Cai Chengyu chose as his companion for exploring the rhythm of the big city someone who could speak about his beloved homeland as passionately as any guide, contestant Nurzhas Sadyrbayev from Kazakhstan.
In this segment, viewers learned the legend of the Baiterek Tower, a symbol where the thousand-year traditions of the nomads merge in stunning harmony with the dynamic energy of a modern city. From a height of 97 meters, the travelers admired the Ak Orda Presidential Palace, Khan Shatyr, the world’s largest tent-shaped structure, the Beijing and Moscow towers, and the tallest building in Central Asia, Abu Dhabi Plaza.
During their journey through Astana, the musicians were especially impressed by Astana Opera, the largest and most technologically advanced temple of the arts in Central Asia, blending neoclassical elegance with beautifully woven elements of traditional Kazakh culture. The contestants also visited the city’s new light rail metro system, currently being built by specialists from China.
The “Prince of Serbia,” accompanied by three beauties, Zhang Xinyu and La Danzhu from China, and Jeryl Lee from Malaysia, headed to a unique body of water. The group was eager to learn why the lake’s water is pink and why it turns white when the weather gets cold.
Clouds like cotton candy, a herd of horses symbolizing the boundless steppe, and graceful white swans on the lake amazed the guests of Kazakhstan and filled them with unforgettable emotions.
The youngest contestant, Italian student Giulia Falcone, together with participant Nur Cholpon from Kyrgyzstan, set out to see the beating heart of Central Asia’s leading international educational center. Executive producer of the project, Dimash Qudaibergen, decided to revisit his student days and joined them on their trip to Nazarbayev University.
The guests were welcomed by a lively flash mob prepared by the university’s student club, a choir bringing together students from many different fields of study. Giulia and Nur joined a traditional Kazakh dance performed by the university’s dance ensemble, while also discussing music from different cultures and sharing a spontaneous jam session with the singers.
They were also shown the conference hall where Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech in 2013 announcing the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Astana gave the singers its brightest colors, so they could pour all this romance into a melody that is about to be heard. Tune in next Thursday for the grand finale of the show, where the winner of the project will be decided through a series of duet performances.
