On March 25, 2022, the famous Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai staged Dimash Qudaibergen’s much-anticipated concert.
“Ten, nine, eight, seven…”, the joyful voices of the audience sounded under the dome of the arena, looking forward to the start of the show.
After two years of a forced break, Dimash finally returned to the stage with a new solo concert. The artist delighted his listeners with a new program, which consisted of his favorite compositions from past shows, as well as new songs written during the pandemic.
Dimash’s “golden team” burst onto the stage to the sounds of the composition “Golden”, setting a special atmosphere for the concert from the very first seconds. After that, the artist called all his listeners to “flight” to the sounds of the song “Fly Away” – the champion of many ratings and charts of recent times.
“Good evening, dear friends, I am really very happy to perform for you on this stage. For more than 2 years we couldn’t meet. Thank you for your love and support!”, – greeted Dimash to the audience.
Throughout the concert, fans shouted “We love you” in different languages of the world, the artist answered “l love you more” according to the old tradition, showing that the connection between him and Dears has not been lost over the years away from each other.
The audience listened to “If I never breathe again” without a single breath, as well as the majestic “Olimpico”, after which the applause in the hall did not stop for a long time.
The concert continued with “Lay Down” – the song about the struggle with oneself, with one’s inner world, which is like a tiger, locked in a cage, striving to freedom, but external forces are trying to hinder, taming the strong beast. This picture was beautifully and powerfully created on stage with Dimash’s voice, 3D graphics and dance production.
The series of “strong” songs with philosophical meaning continued with the song in Chinese “Eternal Memories”, which is the soundtrack to the movie “Battle of Memories”.
The second block of the concert began with Olzhas Kurmanbek entering the stage. The sounds of the kobyz in his skilful hands were the leitmotif of Igor Krutoy’s composition “Stranger”, first performed at the “New Wave” festival in 2021. The mesmerizing black and blue cloak of Dimash emphasized the main idea of the piece about the wanderings of a man who is looking for his destination in this world.
The next song sounded like a continuation of the previous one. It was as if the road had led the Wanderer to what he was looking for. The incredible composition “Ave Maria” seemed to stop time and space for a few minutes.
Back in the present, the viewer saw on the screen chronicles of the last two years. The iconic song for Dimash and Dears, “S.O.S.,” sounded different this time. The artist sang “why I live, why I die” for all those affected by the tragedy of the pandemic: for doctors, tiredly taking off their protective suits, for people who lost loved ones and for all those whose eyes above the mask looked with pain, but continued to live and fight.
As a symbol that life goes on, young stylish couples, beautiful girls and dancing Dimash in the next song “Give me your love” brought the audience to another wave, a wave of positive, love and spring energy.
Dimash’s song “Unforgettable day” by tradition was performed together with the audience, as well as “Love of tired swans”. And the “Know” vocalism made the audience watch non-stop for every sound and movement of the artist, creating right on the stage a new interpretation of the favorite work.
The next block of the concert was devoted to the culture of Kazakhstan and began with a performance of the kyu “Adai” by the musicians and Dimash. The audience sang with the artist, adapting to Dimash’s conductor, the compositions “Mahabbat ber Magan” and “Daididau”, which have already become international.
“Durdaraz” performed by the artist and his fellow musicians, skillfully combining the sound of the ancient dombra and the modern electric guitar, sounded like a vivid example of the fact that you should not forget your roots, because they perfectly fit into modern trends and directions.
Of course, the part of the concert dedicated to the music of the native land could not do without a composition that Renat Gaisin wrote during the pandemic. “Qairan Elim” is a special work in Dimash’s repertoire, heavy, but fraught with hope.
The guests of the evening were the famous dombrists of Kazakhstan, Temirlan Olzhabay and Yernat Nauryz, who lit up the hall by performing potpourri of various compositions, masterly transforming the classics into a dynamic work.
A special guest of the concert was the honored worker of Kazakhstan Svetlana Aitbayeva, Dimash’s mother, who beautifully performed the song “Qarlygash” by A. Zhubanov.
The final block of the concert began with the song “Autumn Strong”. Everything in it spoke of nostalgia: Dimash, who appeared in a costume referring to the period of China 2017, a violin solo in the loss and the final notes, which the artist performed without a microphone, to the whole big stadium.
But the audience did not have to be sad for a long time, because the next song in the program was adrenaline and rhythmic “Be with me”.
In the final part of the concert, quite unexpectedly for all the audience, the song “Couldn’t Leave”, the soundtrack to the Chinese dorama “Go Go Squid!” was performed by Dimash for the first time at the concert.
And now the finale is getting closer, and at the end of the evening the artist raises an important topic for him and for all mankind. Five years ago while working in China Dimash composed a song that reflects all his pain and worry for the fate of the world, the suffering people and especially children. “War and Peace” went from heart to heart, the empty screen behind the stage did not distract or prevent the audience from understanding the meaning of the composition.
“Let it be,” which Dimash sang next, was now perceived as a song of hope that the future should be bright. Backstage pictures on the screen told about the joint work of the multinational team of the artist and conveyed a friendly message to the artist’s fans from all over the world.
By tradition the closing song stretched for a long time, because in the background of it Dimash thanked his family, team and fans, played drums, went into the hall to the audience, who wanted to “Screaming” never to end.
The artist said goodbye to his fans, but not for long: the upcoming concerts in Dusseldorf and Prague, where, of course, will create even more bright and warm memories.
